HIGH HEELS AND 17 FLOORS

Admist the crowd she looked out of place

She had a bloody mary and a fake smile on her face

Black leather purse and a grey tweed coat

and when she thought of herself these wern’’t the words that she wrote

She lived in Apartment "B" on the 17th floor

It was a room with a view but she still wanted more

As she stood in the bar and she looked at the door she said

"forget it"
"I can’’t take it any more"

She walked out of the bar and she left her man

Because he didn’’t love her and he didn’’t understand

and she went back to her palace her room in the sky

instead of living she thought she could fly

She put down her purse and her grey tweed coat

"I can’’t go on"
is all she said in her note

as she stood on the railing and she started to sway

her black heels scratched off a chip of paint

when she looked down she stared to faint

and then the bartender said
"hey do ya wanna another drink"

Amidst the crowd she looked out of place

Her drink was empty but a smile was on her face

cause it was only a fantasy A bad day dream

An escape from the usual a made up scene

and as she stood in the bar and she looked a the door she said

"thanks bartender"
"I think I’’ll have one more"

REM MAN

If I need an escape and I have the time

There’’s a magical land with no reason nor rhyme

So for inspiration as I lay in my bed

There’’s a place I go to inside my head

I see a psycho killer with a good day job

A pink music box and some waves on the rocks

Now my subconscious rules and a wise man says

that it’’s time to shift when your sittin in the red

I go down to the land
of the Rem man

It’’s a cool little place
but I can’’t see his face

He seems to understand
Knows who I really am

Now as my sleep comes fast
Today becomes the past

He whispers his advice in the middle of my mind

Tells me stories without readin between the lines

As I search for the answers in the corners of my bed

Thee R.E.M. man speaks inside my head

Rem he did shout
heard him clear with no doubt

There is no other way
look from the inside out

So I sit back to wall
Tryin hard to recall

What he said
what he means
and all the in betweens

He seems to understand
knows the rest of the plan

He’’ll convince me whats best
collision by request

He whispers his advice in the middle of my mind

Tells me stories without readin between the lines

As I search for the answers in the corners of my bed

Thee R.E.M. man speaks inside my head

If I need an escape and I have the time

There’’s a magical land with no reason nor rhyme

So for inspiration as I lay in my bed

There’’s a place I go to inside my head

I go down to the land

Knows who I really am

Now as my sleep comes fast
Today becomes the past

VANESSA

Let me see you spin around and around

As I watch your feet float across the ground

It’’s ancient movement that will never die

As you danced I could see the sparkle in your eye

Your medieval moves speak of what has been

I can feel your energy underneath my skin

don’’t worry your feet know the route

Your hips and thighs will soon follow suit

Let it start at your toes
then up it slowly goes

Once your feet start to walk
there’’s no time to talk

Don’’t worry if you think you ve skipped a beat

Just close your eyes and follow your feet

Let me see you spin around and around

As I watch your feet float across the ground

It’’s ancient movement that will never die

As you danced I could see the sparkle in your eye

Your medieval moves speak of what has been

I can feel your energy underneath my skin

don’’t worry your feet know the route

Your hips and thighs will soon follow suit

Don’’t worry if some people stare

just close your eyes and pretend their not there

Some want to listen and others want to move

Just take of your shoes and let yourself groove

Let it start at your toes
then up it slowly goes

You feel your spine
 begin to unwind

Now move your hips
to the right and to the lef

And let the sparks fly
out your fingertips

Let me see you spin around and around

As I watch your feet float across the ground

It’’s ancient movement that will never die

As you danced I could see the sparkle in your eye

Your medieval moves speak of what has been

I can feel your energy underneath my skin

don’’t worry your feet know the route

Your hips and thighs will soon follow suit

CHRISTMAS

Candy canes and mistle toe carolers their tunes in tow

Bright lights and wishes for a more peaceful world

Children being children for once it’’s what’’s expected of them

We all can be as joyful and as Christmas as we like

It’’s Christmas and I’’m home again i
t brings a smile from deep within

For family’’s what connects us to what’’s deep with ourselves

From where we’’ve gone or where we’’ve been

Christmas brings us home again

To meet and get our feet back on the earth but touch the sky

Wrapped up gifts and bright red bows the same colour as Rudolfs nose

Spruce trees and board games by the fire every night

Friends we haven’’t seen all year too much food and too much cheer

Remembering what Christmas means and how lucky we are

It’’s christmas and I’’m home again
with all my family and my best friend

To meet and share our love with one another once a year

From where we’’ve gone or been Christmas brings us home again

To meet and get our feet back on the earth but touch the sky

When I was small we used to go back to the creek out through the snow

To slide the mighty mountain then up the hill our sleds we tow

Our feet were wet we didn’’t care our pants soaked to our underwear

So home we went to dry our clothes and plan the event

It’’s Christmas and I’’m home again it’’s brings a smile from deep within

For family’’s what connects us to what’’s deep with ourselves

From where we’’ve gone or where we’’ve been

Christmas brings us home again

To meet and get our feet back on the earth but touch the sky

SOUND MAN

Yesterday something occurred

I was drivin down the highway on my way to work

The song that played I heard word for word..

Now I realized this was my personal experience

and not every one would take the words so serious.

The man the next lane over would not hear the song my way

but the way he drummed the steering wheel I knew he wished that he could play.

The dancers hear the music in the rhythm of their feet.

The music teachers brains count out the numbers of the beats.

Guitar players watch for the finger’’in of the strings .

But the sound man he does all of these things.

When you go out to your local tavern.

And you think about the girls and the drinks that you’’ll be hav’’in.

When you walk through the door the music is play’’in.

Now you realize this is your personal experience,

And not everyone will see the scene the same as this.

You lean on the bar you think you hear rock ‘‘n roll

but he hears more he hears the folk the under-lyin touch of soul.

The dancers hear the music in the rhythm of their feet.

The music teachers brains count out the numbers of the beats.

Guitar players watch for the finger’’in of the strings

But the sound man he does all of these things.

The bartender wonders is the music too loud.

The waitress wonders how she’’ll get through the dancin crowd

The nearest to the speakers feel the pounding in their chest

But the sound man never gets no rest.

The sound man hears the rhythm and the swing.

He thinks about it in his sleep ,he lives it in his dreams,

He knows what music really is and what it really means.

And he will realize this is his personal experience

And not everyone will take the sound so serious

The women by the door will not hear the song his way

But they’’ll be glad that they are here and they decide that they will stay.

SAM

Well I met a man whose name was Sam

he lived at the end of Blind Alley in a garbage can

he said..come here girl I wanna share some wisdom

can you spare a minute ..just to come and listen

I've lived a long life and I've seen lots of things

like how to be one men and women think they need wedding rings.

now,
Sam said to me that you must understand

that you can't judge a woman by the man at her hand

some think the men and women are the strong and the weak

it's all aggression vs flowers for the drivers seat

inside a womens head this is not the case

cause it's the strength in our minds
that helps to run the human race

..and   well

I don't know but I've been told

that you can't live off your dreams of gold

we hope and we pray to the faces in the sky
that we can raise our children

before we die ........

I said ,
Sam I know societies such a hard case

what can I do to help you live in a better space

I could clean up this alley , give you good food to taste

he said you could call it sunshine road
but it'd still be the same place,

when only in your mind is a road a dead end

we have to tear down the mind set and begin it all again

I don't know but I've been told

that you can't live off your dreams of gold

we hope and we pray to the faces in the sky
that we can keep up with the

jones before we die ........

he said that no ones opinion is ever wrong

cause if it's real in their minds then it's a solid as a stone

we want the money and the oil for our patriotic pride

but it's a long..cold..lonely rickety roller coaster ride

we live in a world where we know we can't stay, and in a flash

our lives her are just taken away.

he said that one drink of power can consume your life

it may take twenty shots of whiskey just to cope with all the strife

if you can peel off the top layer wisdom lies within

stop separating men from women and begin it all again.

so

I don't know but I've been told

that you can't live off your dreams of gold

we hope and we pray to the faces in the sky
that we can find each other

before we die ........

Well I met a man everyone called Sam
he lived at the end of Blind Alley

in a garbage can

I said I'm glad I met you, as I shook his hand

I have listened to your words ,and I think I understand

and I will pass on your wisdom as best as I can

but after that day I never saw Sam again

STORM

Mother natures storm oh it’’s cold and yet warm

A flash at the start it turns the trees to art

She whispers then screams of the storm that soon will be

Respect me
Respect me
 Respect me
Don’’t consume me

Follow me but hide you might just see inside

Eat my soil drink my rain Consider my pain

Feel my spark sense my fears oh and wear my dress of tears

Respect me
Respect me
Respect me
Don’’t consume me

Use your 7th sense  and walk to my strength

Watch listen and see the wind that blows from me

Whisper than scream of the storm that soon will be

Respect me
 Respect me
Respect me
Don’’t consume me

THEY THINK

Some one will always be doing something to another

I think it’’s alright but it’’s an outrage to the other

No matter what you do you think that you’’ll recover

I think It’’s alright but it’’s deplorable to another

Someone will always be doing something to another

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong

A naked body set about a magazine cover

She thinks it’’s alright but it’’s an outrage to her mother

A man who’’s different with another man for a lover

I think it’’s alright but it’’s deplorable to his brother

A sin in the church is the lifestyle of another

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
 (they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong

Her clothes are different one thing doesn’’t match the other

Is he my friend or just a man under cover

Everybody wants to know the business of the other

One of these days you will accept and discover

Someone will always be doing something to another

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong
 (they think)

Uncommon is wrong it just doesn’’t belong
(they think)

Uncommon is wrong so stand up and be strong

DAFFODIL GIRL

I now see that that day in may I was there for the daffodil girl

the powers that be say conform follow the norm

They got me medicated under stimulated

It’’s all so jaded I think I’’m fadin away

Only time will tell I’’m just a mist wrapped in my outer shell

She rode in on a dandy lion flyin

my peripheral vison deceived

what was it she was trying to make me see

They got you medicated under stimulated

It’’s all so jaded I see you fadin away

Turn your head girl why can’’t you see

I now see that that day in may I was there for the daffodil girl

the powers that be say conform follow the norm

She delivered her gift and departed

I think that was when it all started

or maybe that was just myself I heard talkin

BIGGER FASTER STRONGER

Under my bed is a big ole monster

Under my bed is a big ole monster

Asked his name he said

Bigger,

Faster,

Stronger,

So I wonder and I ponder
at this bigger faster stronger

I never saw him before
even when my thoughts had wondered

I wonder and ponder,
 why things don’’t last longer

He says we built it

Bigger ,

Faster,

Stronger,

Not meant to last any longer

So I wonder and ponder can’’t we hear the spell a thunder

The trouble were under and my monster whispers

Bigger
Faster
Stronger

Not intended to last any longer

make it disposable a sunder

don’’t ponder any longer

don’’t wonder at the monster

pretend I’’m here no longer

conform a line

follow your list

buy all the crap that I wish ..

I just

wonder than ponder
at my monster bigger faster stronger

I crave smaller ........slower

I strive for good expectations much lower

So I fed the monster lies

but I followed in disguise

I slip him a potion never looking him in the eyes

and now he
slowly...........
slowly..........
dies
I sigh ..
go back to sleep,
and ponder no longer
